A man, woman and young girl look out the window opening of a horse-drawn passenger carriage or coach piloted by two coachmen. The covered-carriage is decorated with ribbon garland around the body and streamers woven through the four wheels. All are finely dressed; one coachmen wears a top hat. There is a mansion/large house in the background. It appears as though they are traveling in an urban area, possibly somewhere in Colorado.

William and Rose Forman pose with their sons on horses by the picket fence surrounding their home on High Street in Breckenridge, Colorado. Circa 1885-1900. William holds the reins to the horse that Deber, their youngest son, sits astride. George, the oldest child, is on the other horse. Rose stands on the grass inside the fenced yard, and a large dog lays on the wooden sidewalk. The 1881-built one story multi-gable house has a covered portico and square bay window. A second story was added in 1901.

People on horseback at Swan's Nest, a Victorian mansion originally built in 1898 by Ben Stanley Revett, known as the "Gold Dredge King", as a summer home for his bride. In later years it was used as a hunting lodge and summer camp for boys. Northeast of Breckenridge in the Swan River Valley in Colorado.

June Kaiser, daughter of Carl and Esther Kaiser, rides her horse named Nellie in a grassy area across from the 1909-built courthouse in Breckenridge, Colorado. Handwritten caption on the reverse: "June & her horse Nellie" and "July 1942."

On Main Street in Breckenridge, Colorado "Bronco Dave" Braddock sits in a two horse-drawn wagon. Wood frame and false-front buildings line both sides of the dirt packed street. On the left (west) is Arlington House and Denver Hotel, with covered porticoes and second story balconies. Opposite is Breckenridge Masonic Lodge No. 47 with its awning open over the wooden sidewalk, and the Arcade Hotel next door. The hose drying tower and bell cupola of Fireman's Hall can be seen above the rooftops. Title quoted from handwritten caption on card mount: "Main St. Breckenridge."

Breckenridge, Colorado, circa 1867. Log buildings and cabins line the west side of the rocky, dirt packed Main Street. The two story, side gable log building is the 1862-built Silverthorn Hotel. A covered horse-drawn carriage is stopped out front. More wagons pulled by horses or oxen crowd the street. In the foreground a young boy (possibly Eli Fletcher) sits on a tree stump. In view (far right) is a pump and trough for horses and oxen (removed in 1881).

Men at a mining operation near Breckenridge, Colorado. Two men stand next to ore carts stopped on elevated tracks leading from the mine's adit. A wagon pulled by two horses is stopped on the dirt road that runs under the tracks. Mine tailings are piled high on either side of the road. In the background is a large wooden structure with a smokestack, probably an ore bin or mill, and log cribbing on the steep hillside. Circa 1898-1913.

Two formally-dressed men in a wagon pulled by two horses with a driver travel a narrow road that has been cleared in a snow slide. Probably taken in the Ten Mile Canyon, Colorado, near the Curtain train station where a snow slide occurred on December 15, 1922. Caption on right of photo has a date of 6/8/22, but that may not be correct as snow would have mostly melted by June.

Looking south on Main Street, Breckenridge, a group of men and one boy stand with their bicycles decorated for an Independence Day celebration or parade on July 4, 1893. The curvilinear false-front of the Arlington House (Hotel) is partly visible in the right foreground. Title quoted from printed text on the item: "4th of July, 1893".

Gold Pan ditch under construction. Men use shovels and a horse-drawn dirt scraper to dig the four foot deep trench from May to November, 1900. The ditch ran north collecting water from the Blue River and Pennsylvania and Indiana Creeks and was used for the Gold Pan Mining Company hydraulic operations south of Breckenridge, Colorado. Stands of dead trees cover the dirt hillside.

Houses on the east side Main Street at Adams Avenue in Breckenridge, Colorado, circa 1915. From left to right: Barney L. Ford's original house/cottage (constructed by Ford in 1881, Nels Pehrson owned the property circa 1914s); Pehrson's house (built by Pehrson in 1899, he added Palladian windows and a new front porch in 1909) and the Linquist house (constructed 1891-1892). Nels' son Sam stands on the dirt road directly in front of a stopped horse-drawn carriage piloted by Albert Schatz. There is a utility/telegraph pole near the street. Boreas Pass can be seen in the background.

The Finding residence on North Main Street, Breckenridge. Charles stands beside the open gate and his wife Martha holds the reins of a horse on the front lawn. Their daughters, Charline Antoinette "Tonnie" (in dark dress) and Agnes (wearing a striped dress under a white pinafore) stand on the street side of the fence. Laying on the ground between them are two dogs, probably the family's pets. An unpainted picket fence encloses the tree-covered property and in the front yard is a large water fountain.

The Hawthorne flume used to divert the Swan River for placer mining west of Swan's Nest near Breckenridge, Colorado in 1897. In the distance a man in a wagon is stopped on a bridge across the wooden flume. River rocks line the dirt banks of the depleted river.

Part two from the typed manuscript by Agnes (Finding) Miner. Titled "The Story of a Colorado Pioneer (Mrs. Charles A. Finding)" it recounts the life of Martha Silverthorn Finding, as told by Martha to her daughter Agnes. Describes the Silverthorn Family journey from Pennsylvania to Denver, Colorado in 1859, then on to Breckenridge in 1861. Also, encounters with Native Americans. Part two of the manuscript ends with: "Written by Duane F. Miner of the Breckenridge Woman's Club. It is the story of her Mothers [sic] early experiences."

The women, all wearing hats, are dressed in bodice coats or jackets and long skirts. One boy holds the reins of the two burros, while two men stand nearby. The separating and concentrating mill at the Wellington Mine on the north side of French Gulch, east of Breckenridge, Colorado. Circa 1911. Several two-horse team wagons haul processed ore from the mill. In the foreground piles of lumber and round logs are stacked along the dirt wagon road.

Hydraulic mining operations at the Kingsbury Placer (later called Banner Placer) in Iowa Gulch near Breckenridge, Colorado. Circa 1909. A man, probably the manager or a member of the pit crew, looks at the wooden sluices carrying water through the gravel banks below while a horse and buggy wait on the high bank above.

An L-shaped cross gable house on the west side of South French Street in Breckenridge, Colorado in the early 1900s. A two-horse drawn carriage or wagon is stopped on the dirt street. The house was built between 1896 and 1902 for John H. Ziegler. In the 1980s it became known as the Markey House.
