Biss's painting depicts Farris as sheriff leading a group of men on horses through a high mountain pass near Breckenridge, the Summit County seat. This poster helped Sheriff "Bob" win his re-election bid in 1979; he was the first Black man to be elected to a Colorado county. He was sheriff from 1975 through 1983.
