A dog is asleep on the carpeted floor of the parlor in Charles A. and Martha (Silverthorn) Finding's house on Main Street in Breckenridge, Colorado. Circa 1893. The room is furnished with area rugs, a secretary desk, a bookcase and a wicker rocking chair in the bay window. Anchoring the room is an ornate cast iron parlor stove. Decorative items throughout include framed pictures and photographs, porcelain plates supported on easels, seashells and vases. Doilies, antimacassars and tasseled cloth runners cover chair backs and tables and heavy tasseled curtains drape the opening to the adjacent music room. A large book is displayed on a metal book stand, probably the Family Bible.

Interior of the C.A. Finding Hardware Store on Main Street, Breckenridge, Colorado, circa 1894. Charles Finding, in suitcoat and necktie, leans on a desk against the wall. Another well-dressed man stands nearby. Potted plants line the shelf above and in the window. Calendars (dated 1891, 1892, 1893 and 1894) and illustrated posters and prints decorate the wall. A wooden spindle railing separates the office area from public space, with an ornate parlor stove on either side. Another desk, a bookcase and office chairs furnish the room and the corner edge of a glass case is visible in the foreground. Quoted from handwritten text on the reverse: "Probably Mr. Miner's office in his hardware store Breckenridge. Calendar on wall - October 1894".

Along one wall is a bookcase crowded with books and topped with decorative items and framed pictures. Books are stacked on the upholstered chair tightly placed in the corner next to a writing desk. Mounted above is a tobacco pipe rack surrounded by photographs and cabinet cards, a small calendar, illustrations (framed and unframed) and a fan. On the desk are more framed photographs, books, a figurine table lamp with a floral-patterned porcelain lamp cover, and an upright wood organizer stacked with papers and notecards. In the foreground a book is displayed open on a metal book stand.

A rectangular lamp table is centered in the room and chairs are placed along the walls. Other decorative items include framed pictures supported on easels, a fan made of peacock feathers, seashells, a vase with cattails, and tasseled table runners and cloths. The curved side of a square grand piano can be seen in the foreground.

Behind the polished cast iron parlor stove is an unused fireplace, with its opening covered by a metal sheet. Its mirror-backed mantel is draped in a floral print cloth and crowded with vases, a clock, framed pictures, statuettes and animal figurines, and brass candle holders. A chair sits in the corner near a bookcase topped with more decorative items and framed pictures. A large book is displayed on a metal book stand, probably the Family Bible.
