Skiers gather in the Peak 8 base area outside or on the deck of the Bergenhof Bar and Restaurant at Breckenridge ski area in Breckenridge, Colorado. The Bergenhof was one of three original buildings that made up the Peak 8 base area in the 1960s. It was demolished in 2013. Chairlift 1 is in the foreground.

The child next to him wears ski goggles and a red and white knit hat. Both are wearing leather lace up ski boots and skis. Other skiers fill the chairs behind them.

Title quoted from handwritten text on the item: "View from Springmeyer, Breckenridge Ski Area". Looking east on Peak 8 of the Breckenridge ski area in Colorado. The ski run was named after Mr. Alva Springmeyer, a Breckenridge resident circa 1940s-1950s, although it was misspelled as Springmeier.
