Part one of a two-part interview with Cheryl and Jim Beck conducted 2018-11-17. Jim first came to Breckenridge a couple weeks after the ski area originally opened in 1961-62. He competed in a ski race and swore he'd never come back. In late-1963, he moved to Breckenridge and began working at an excavating company.

Interview with Elwood "Chip" Barrett conducted 2019-10-08. Barrett first came to Breckenridge in 1976 at 19 years old. He hitchhiked to the area from Philadelphia. He got into town on July 4, 1976, and then went skiing at Fourth of July Bowl. Barrett briefly moved back to Philadelphia before again hitchhiking back to Breckenridge in 1977.

Interview with Greg Abernathy conducted 2018-07-19. Abernathy first moved to Breckenridge in November 1971 as a senior in college. Vail was the only skiing mountain open due to a lack of snow, and lift tickets were $12. Breckenridge opened the next day with lift tickets discounted to $3.50.

Interview with Hubert Snyder conducted 2018-12-26. Snyder was born in Leeds, Colorado, during the Dust Bowls. His family moved to Des Moines, Iowa, vacationing often to the mountains of Colorado. They moved to Aspen in 1943 and Snyder's father became superintendent of the school district. After graduating college, Snyder signed a contract to teach at Climax Molybdenum Mine in 1950.

Interview with Janet McDermott conducted 2019-09-30. McDermott came to Breckenridge in the early 1970s. After spending several weekends driving from Denver to ski at Breckenridge she decided it made more sense to move to the area full time. She started working at Breckenridge Resort Association as it was just beginning.

Part one of a two-part interview with Jerry Cooney conducted 2018-10-18. Cooney originally came to Breckenridge on a ski trip in 1968. He and his wife then came to Breckenridge for a six-month honeymoon in 1970 before moving to the area full-time. Cooney became a town councilman in the mid-1970s and established a town charter.

Interview with Jim and Kathy Bunting conducted 2019-06-27. Jim first came to Breckenridge in October 1972. He had learned how to ski at Camp Hale as part of his Army service and was planning to move to Leadville. He instead moved to Breckenridge to ski. Kathy came to Breckenridge on April 2, 1974.

Interview with Mark Cope conducted 2018-11-01. Cope's family moved to Breckenridge as the ski area was being built in 1961. They lived above the drugstore at the base of Peak 8. Cope was 11 years old at the time. The older kids had to go to Fairplay for school at the time.

Interview with Mark Karas and Stacey (Karas) Gervasi conducted 2019-07-03. The Karas family frequently vacationed in Breckenridge from Youngstown, Ohio. They moved to Breckenridge full-time in October 1971, living in a brick house on Main Street. Mark was in eighth grade at the time and Stacey was in fourth grade. Their father worked at a ski shop in town and worked construction in the summer.

Interview with Nick and Mary Logan conducted 2019-04-26. Nick first came to Breckenridge in 1968 at 20 years old. He started working with Trygve Berge at Berge's ski shop. Mary came to Breckenridge in January 1973 after teaching skiing at Eldora. She quickly began working for the ski school in Breckenridge. She then became a ski patroller.

Interview with Michael McMenamy conducted 2018-11-20. McMenamy first came to Breckenridge at 11 years old in 1970 from Littleton, Colorado. His father owned 12 acres near Blue River at the time. They eventually bought a house at 301 South Main Street and that is where McMenamy grew up. His father started out as a bartender at Breckenridge Inn before becoming the Ski Patrol Director at Breckenridge Ski Resort. He would eventually become the Mountain Manager, overseeing the development of Peak 9.

In 1966, his dad bought property in Huron Heights and began building a house. They came up to build on weekends through 1971 when Rixon moved to Breckenridge after graduating from high school.

Interview with Robert Atchison and Sandra Dallas conducted 2018-08-02. Atchison first came to Breckenridge in December 1962 working in public relations for the Rounds family before Breckenridge Ski Resort officially opened in spring 1963. He and Dallas lived in an apartment above the information center on Main Street. Dallas and Atchinson married shortly after they moved here. Their child was the first and only child born in Breckenridge in the modern era because they could not get to the hospital in Leadville in time.
