Interview with Mark Cope conducted 2018-11-01. Cope's family moved to Breckenridge as the ski area was being built in 1961. They lived above the drugstore at the base of Peak 8. Cope was 11 years old at the time. The older kids had to go to Fairplay for school at the time.

Chairlift 2 midway on Peak 8 of the Breckenridge ski resort in Colorado. Spruce Run at right. Chairlift 2, a Heron double lift, was installed for the 1965-1966 ski season. It ascended over Callie's Alley Run to the top of Peak 8. It was retired in 1997 when Rocky Mountain Chair was built.

Skiers gather in the Peak 8 base area outside or on the deck of the Bergenhof Bar and Restaurant at Breckenridge ski area in Breckenridge, Colorado. The Bergenhof was one of three original buildings that made up the Peak 8 base area in the 1960s. It was demolished in 2013. Chairlift 1 is in the foreground.
