Scope and content

Mary Marks and her sister Kate Schwalbach climb a tree somewhere near Breckenridge to collect pitch or resin. Pitch from different species of pine, fir, and spruce can be chewed like gum. Mary, on the right, is wearing leather gloves, a dark striped bodice jacket over a white collared blouse, and a flat front ankle-length skirt. Kate is in a blousy top with puffed sleeves and a wide bow under her collar. Her skirt is similar to Mary's. Both women appear to be wearing heavy canvas gaiters buttoned up over their leather boots.
